Required Documents and Admissions Procedures for Prospective Students

Thank you for your interest in the Domínico Americano School. We feel honored to be considered an educational option for your child. In this page you will find a list of required documents and information about the admissions procedure for all levels offered at our school. We invite you to join us for one of our Open House sessions, scheduled throughout the year. In our Open House you will learn more about the Domínico Americano School, our academic and extracurricular programs, as well as get a tour of our facilities. REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

  • Two original birth certificates for educational purposes (In case of foreign birth certificate, a copy may be accepted. Some cases will require official translation to Spanish).
  • Two 2×2 photographs
  • Proof of enrollment letter from previous school.
  • Medical Certificates (general, visual and dental).
  • Copy of vaccination records.
  • Debt clearance letter from previous school, if transferring from a local school.
  • Copy of Dominican Republic Ministry of Education (MINERD) system information “Histórico del Sistema de Información del MINERD (Request from previous school).
  • Grades from previous grade level, current to date of registration.
  • If transferring mid-year, must provide grades for year in process.
  • Copy of parents’ local IDs (cédulas) or passports in case of foreigners.
  • Recommendation or conduct letter from previous school.
  • Auditory certificate.
  • Admissions Interview
  • Students transferring from foreign countries, must present a validation certificate “validación de estudiante extranjero” from the MINERD.
  • Must pass our admissions tests.
  • Students seeking admissions to seventh grade must provide a certificate of completion of elementary school, signed by the corresponding Educational District.
  • Grades from previous school years signed by the corresponding Educational District. If a local transfer, must present sealed “actas de notas.”
  • Students transferring from schools in foreign countries must present a validation document “convalidación oficial” from MINERD.
  • Official grade records signed and stamped by the Educational District for students seeking admissions for the seventh through eleventh grades, valid for matriculation transfer, according to current MINERD regulations.
  • Must pass our admissions test.

EVALUATION PROCEDURE: PRESCHOOL

  • Complete Pre-Registration Form.
  • Deposit a copy of most recent report cart and conduct letter in the Main Office (if applicable).
  • Request an appointment for an admissions interview by calling 809-535-0665 ext. 3502. Parents must accompany the child to the interview.
  • At the Preschool Office, request a slip to make payment of RD$1,500.00 at the Cashier (applies to levels corresponding to 4 and 5-year-old students).
  • Children must wear comfortable clothing and be ready to participate for a period of 30 to 45 minutes.

EVALUATION PROCEDURE: ELEMENTARY AND HIGH SCHOOL

  • Complete Pre-Registration Form.
  • For elementary, deposit a copy of most recent report card in the Main Office.
  • For middle and high school, deposit a copy of all seventh through eleventh grade report cards, as may apply in the Main Office.
  • A member from the Psychology Department will contact you to schedule the evaluation date.
    • At the Main Office, request a slip to make payment of RD$1,500.00 at the Cashier.
    • Parents must complete Psychology Department interview form.  
    • Candidates seeking admissions to the second grade and above, will be tested for the following subject areas: English, Math and Spanish (based on content from the grade level that they are currently enrolled in).
