Universities visit our 12th-grade students during Career Week

During our Career Week, 12th-grade students enjoyed a unique experience by welcoming prestigious universities to our campus, including Universidad Anáhuac de México, PUCMM, Universidad Atlántica de España, SCAD, Creighton, Embry-Riddle, UCONN, Regis University, University of Puerto Rico, UNICDA, INTEC, Chavón, Barna, and UNPHU. Through presentations and talks given by these institutions, our students were able to explore a wide range of academic options and resolve doubts related to their future university careers.

Additionally, the students benefited from the valuable participation of EducationUSA, which provided guidance on the necessary steps to study in the United States, as well as from Smith College, which presented its educational offerings.

As part of this enriching experience, students had the special opportunity to interact with Arajet, under its CEO Víctor Pacheco Méndez, and learned more about the School of Aviation, where David Leung, a student of our institution, shared his experiences in the field of aviation. Furthermore, we had the privilege of attending a personal finance talk led by Rosa Sandoval, who provided our young people with essential tools to manage their finances from an early age.

We deeply appreciate all the institutions for their time and knowledge, which have undoubtedly been of great help to our students in their university decision-making process. We are sure that this experience will be key to their academic and professional development.

Students celebrate Cultural Exchange Day with a parade full of color and diversity

With great enthusiasm, our students participated in an unforgettable parade to commemorate the Cultural Exchange Day, filling every corner with the color and joy that characterize this important date. Throughout the parade, students represented different countries, highlighting the diverse cultural roots that unite us and emphasizing the richness of our traditions.

The event was a true tribute to cultural diversity, where each step and presentation reminded us that our differences are precisely what strengthen us as a community. This celebration was an opportunity not only to honor the past but also to reaffirm the importance of valuing and preserving our cultural heritage.

The parade not only celebrated the various traditions that converge in our community but also invited reflection on the value of diversity. The message was clear: diversity not only defines us but also strengthens us, and it is in this diversity that the true essence of our shared humanity lies.

Through activities like this, we continue to foster respect, understanding, and unity among cultures, reminding us that Cultural Exchange Day is more than a celebration: it is a reminder that by recognizing our differences, we can build a more inclusive future full of opportunities for all. This event leaves a mark on the memory of the community, underlining that recognizing our roots is fundamental to forging a sense of belonging and mutual respect, while urging us to continue celebrating the beauty of our cultural legacy.

They inaugurate the art exhibition ‘Diaspora’ at the Instituto Cultural Domínico Americano

On October 10, the Instituto Cultural Domínico Americano (ICDA) and the cultural direction opened their exhibition hall for “Diáspora,” a notable art exhibit featuring 14 Latin American visual artists. The exhibition aims to create an artistic dialogue with the public, exploring themes related to cultural encounters, emigration challenges, and the guiding lights for those seeking new opportunities in welcoming cities.

The opening ceremony was led by Sofía Otero, cultural director of the Instituto Cultural Domínico Americano, and Julia Castillo, director of the Centro Cultural Perelló Durante. They were also joined by María Fals, educator and art critic.

Artists such as Rebeca Flores, Monique Johnson, Humberto Grullón, Ramón Santiago, Luis Cepeda, Raphael Díaz, Vladimir Sosa, Nilton Cárdenas, Rafael Trinidad, Pablo Mijares, Julia Castillo, Amalia González, Salvador Sánchez, and Ángel Cajigas Arbelo came together to deeply reflect on diversity, identity, and the continuous search for meaning in a migration context through their works.

The ICDA thanks the Centro Cultural Perelló for including us in this new edition, as well as all the attendees who participated in the inauguration. “Diáspora” will be open to the public until November 15, 2024, in the exhibition hall of the Instituto Cultural Domínico Americano.

En un emotivo evento, la encargada de negocios de la Embajada de los Estados Unidos en la República Dominicana, Patricia Aguilera, presentó formalmente a un grupo de talentosos artistas y sus impactantes obras, como parte del proyecto cultural Historias que nos Unen: Que suene la campana de la libertad.

El evento, que se llevó a cabo en un ambiente de celebración y reflexión, reunió a diversos artistas y personalidades destacadas. Durante la presentación, se exploró cómo el arte se convierte en un poderoso medio para promover la unión, la libertad y los valores democráticos, esenciales para el desarrollo y fortalecimiento de la sociedad.

Esta exposición no solo invita a la apreciación estética, sino también a la introspección y al diálogo sobre los valores que nos conectan como seres humanos. El público aún está a tiempo de disfrutar de estas extraordinarias obras que están siendo exhibidas en la Plaza del Estudiante, ubicada en la sede principal del Instituto Cultural Domínico Americano, en la avenida Abraham Lincoln.

During a special event, our students were recognized for their dedication and effort in living and promoting the fundamental values of Culture, Diversity, and Flexibility. The student community has demonstrated a remarkable ability to appreciate different perspectives, adapt to changes, and contribute to creating an inclusive and respectful environment within the school.

Teachers and administrators praised the young people for their commitment to these principles, which not only enrich their academic experience but also prepare them for the challenges they will face in the outside world.
